Kiyomizu-dera

這座聯合國教科文組織世界遺產木造寺院,以粗壯的櫸木立柱撐起懸空舞台,不用一根釘子——是京都經典天際線景致之一,秋楓與櫻花時節尤其動人。寺名意為「清水」,得名自本堂下方的音羽瀑布。

Open roughly 6:00–18:00 daily (hours extend for seasonal night illuminations); admission is around ¥500, cash preferred. It's a steep uphill approach from the Higashiyama lanes, so budget extra time and wear comfortable shoes. Go early in the morning to beat both the crowds and the tour buses; this is one of Kyoto's busiest sights.
